Hive Defenders is a bee-themed, hex-grid-based, tower defence game in which the player must defend the queen bee from waves of mushroom enemies. Players must collect resources and build defences, gradually expanding the bee-hive. After 4 months of pre-production and 6 weeks of production, the game features an infinite mode, a unique resource collection and territory expansion system, 6 defence towers and 9 enemy variations.
When I first integrated this project, a first prototype had already been created by a small core team of interns. My role at this stage was to:
Create documentation for the project, including GDD and Asset List.
Assess the current state of the project.
Design new needed systems and iterate on the present ones.
Set direction & plan production for the upcoming 1UP project.
During the production phase in the 2025 1UP Scheme, I integrated the 16 team, first as Lead Designer. I also had to step up as Producer for the good of the project, since our original producer lacked the time to dedicate to this project. Outside of a lot of communication and coordination with the entirety of the team, my main contributions were as follows:
Designed and implemented 3C’s. Iterated based on user feedback.
Designed and managed implementation of new game mechanics.
Created, distributed and followed up on tasks.
Coordinated with other project leads to ensure deadlines were met.
